Meet our Medical Staff

The staff of Stepping Stone of Boone always strives to provide the best possible care to our patients.

As part of our collaboration with High Country Community Care, we offer Primary Care to our patients on site, so if you have a medical need and would like to be seen, please contact the front desk to set up an appointment.

Medical Director, Dr. Daniel Strickland:

Dr. Strickland has been practicing medicine since 1977. His previous focus has been on Obstetrics-Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. He has been working in Addiction Medicine since 2013. In addition, Dr. Strickland is a retired Colonel with the US Air Force.

Family Nurse Practitioner, Amy Nix:

Ms. Nix has been an RN since 2001 and an FNP since 2011. Ms. Nix has most recently been working in Family Practice with both Blue Ridge Integrative Health and Ashe Family Healthcare. Ms. Nix has a particular interest in healthcare education, nutritional issues, and takes a holistic approach to patient care.

Family Nurse Practitioner, Amanda Williams

Amanda began her career in medicine in 1996 as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy. She went on to become an  started RN in 2008,  focusing on Labor and Delivery, Women’s Health, Public Health, Surgery and of course addiction medicine. She went on to become  board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in 2018. Amanda is passionate about providing care  to rural, underserved populations in the Appalachian Mountains, and Stepping Stone is honored to have her skill set available to our patients.
